Since the grey theory is done now you can go on reading through the example code you can download below. There's just a few more code than discussed here so just keep trying to understand what happens there.

Where to go

Now that you know how to handle tiles and maps there are many directions where you can extend your knowledge. For example you could learn about save and load map files, animations, multi-layered maps, smooth scrolling (pixel-based), units or even pathfinding.
